Rough, raw, and rustic diamonds are the latest trend in engagement rings. For more about what these terms mean, see my post on alternative diamond cuts. Of course they are not for everyone, but for anyone looking for a unique engagement ring, they are definitely something to consider. Unlike modern cut diamonds, each stone is completely unique and has a character and color all its own. While most designers working with these stones are using low quality stones that look, to me, like cloudy pebbles, there are a small number that are using higher quality clearer stones that really capture the unique beauty of diamonds.
